IIITD Electroholics Club Website

MOTIVATION

As a part of our SM project we created the website for Electroholics club which has been started recently. Clubs play a vital role in making the campus life more lively and enjoyable and gives a break from the monotonous routine of studies. So we decided to create the website-cum-blog for the Electroholics club.

Our aim was to create a website for the club members to showcase various events and activities that are organised by it.

Tools and Languages Used

Frontend

On the frontend we used HTML and CSS.HTML is a markup language for describing web documents (web pages). Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language.

Backend

On the backend, we used PHP which is a server-side scripting language designed for web development but also used as a general-purpose programming language.

HOW IT WORKS

We have created the entire website from scratch using HTML and CSS. We used CSS for including animations and HTML to create the basic web page.
The website has a blog in which the members can post stuff related to their research or the projects which can be a benefit to other people in or outside the group. Blog can also be used to post announcements about the working and the functioning of the club. We have also added all the details of the projects they are handling.

SOURCES AND CONTENT

Tutorials on HMTL and CSS were available on w3schools. We also watched various vedios online from youtube. The information and member details of the club were given to us by the club coordinator, Aneesh Kumar. The list of events and the photographs for the gallery were also given to us by him.

For the backend, PHP tutorials were available on youtube from which we learned.

STEP BY STEP LEARNING JOURNEY

We started working on the project from the very beginning and we divided the work equally amongst ourselves. All four of us first learned the assigned language for the first few days and on Wednesday we started to collaborate and work on the project. The members stayed back in the hostel and worked the whole night to make the website more beautiful and useful for the club coordinators.By the end of the project we are confident that we can develop good websites and we learnt a great deal about making good and professional websites.

The first piece of paper we used to design the website is given below.
