INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Ikasi. Here in Ikasi headquarters, we strive to ensure you grasp the concepts and are able to understand what's going on in your classes at the moment.
WHY
We notice that though our teachers teach very well and we understand most of the concepts in class itself, there are some times when we cannot help but focus less, or miss a few classes which takes us really behind in our syllabus. Thus, we go online and we start searching for sensible tutorials to understand the specific topic. The thing is, it's not always easy to find videos which are helpful enough and related directly to the topic. Moreover, we waste a lot of time in looking for the videos. Thus, we decided to aid our effort to learn by providing easy and appropriate links for the topics of our syllabus and interest.
TEAM MEMBERS
In alphabetical order, our amazing team includes:
- Damini Chauhan
- Devishi Kesar
- Manasi Malik
- Sarthika Dhawan
- Shagun Kapur
Since making our site involved a lot of effort in looking for appropriate videos which enable the person who watches them to actually understand the topic, our main aim was to find those videos.
In that regard,
Damini Chauhan provided all Digital Circuits videos and created and edited all the Digital Circuits pages.
Devishi Kesar provided links for Psychology and Introduction to Programming and created and edited all the Psychology pages.
Manasi Malik handled the Math section of Ikasi and created and edited all the Math pages.
Sarthika Dhawan took care of Systems Management and created and edited all the Systems Management pages.
Shagun Kapur provided links for Artificial Intelligence and created and edited AI pages and did the coding part for the main page.
The creative corner was a collaborated effort and videos were provided by all team members.
The ideas for the main page were decided upon after a discussion among all five teammates.
INITIAL PLANNING
The first day we started talking about the website, we all sat in the Discussion Room and brainstormed ideas. It took almost an hour to finalize the topic, but eventually we decided on the topic of an educational website.
The next day, we worked on the interface till 3 AM and worked from the next morning till the night.
We stayed back for two extra days in the holidays to finish our work, and came one night early.
All in all, it was an amazing learning experience because we understood how front-end and back-end of a website work
This is where we started. Then we went on to have illuminating discussions and provide our viewpoints on each part of our website
We sent each other copies of our work so it could be integrated into one amazing whole
And we regularly kept track of our efforts
TOOLS, LANGUAGES AND PLATFORMS USED FOR DEVELOPING THE WEBSITE
We decided not to use any template, and have hardly used any already-made codes, hence we did not take aid of websites like Drupal and Bootstrap.
Everything in our site is custom-made for Ikasi.
We used
- HTML mainly
- CSS in a lot of parts
Codecademy helped us a lot in understanding the codes and how to write them. We also checked up a lot of doubts and additional coding on Google, but no codes are copied as they were.
STEP BY STEP LEARNING JOURNEY
We started off, as mentioned, by developing the basic layout of our website. Once we had decided upon the layout, we started working on looking for videos for our website. Four of our team members worked on the videos, while the last one worked on developing a good enough user interface for the main page and all pages within.
HTML coding may be easy, but it is not easy to decide and agree on a good layout, so that took a while because everyone had a different view as to what would be the best user interface for our website.
We went through tutorials: videos and websites alike to familiarize ourselves with HTML and CSS coding and started working together and collaborating to develop the pages.
Somewhere in between, names were suggested and Ikasi was selected with 3 votes against 2 for Takshashila.
It was a very interesting and enlightening experience for us to actually create a webpage and what seemed to be a very difficult job ended up being so much fun that it did not seem like a job anymore.
